Making your own room spray is so great because this way you can really combine smells you like and make your own mixture. It’s such a good feeling when you are in your home and you smell your favorites scents.
It’s really not that difficult to make in your kitchen. They’re just a few things you need to remember. Water and essential oils don’t mix so if you just add some drops in the water they will go on the surface and stay like small bubbles of oil.
You will need an emulsifying agent. The reason for this is to help the oils mix and blend in the water. You will be surprised to know that there are so many emulsifying agents in the kitchen every day. They include milk, yogurt, honey, vinegar, salt, liquid castile soap, alcohol.
What you will need?
7 drops of rose oil (Rosa Damascena)
7 drops of bergamot oil (Citrus aurantium bergamia)
1 tsp of salt
Distilled water
Directions:
It doesn’t matter which kind of salt you want to use. Epsom salt, Himalayan Salt or sea salt can work. You will need a spray bottle by your choice. Once you know the bottle you will put your mixture in you will be able to estimate how to adjust this recipe.
Begin by adding the rose and bergamot oil in the spray bottle. Add your salt carefully. Stir bottle to mix the oils and salt. Lastly, add your water and shake well. You can use your blend right away but if you leave it to stay for 1 – 2 days the scents get stronger.
Creating your own sprays is a fun and easy way to get creative and combine your favorite scents. They also make gifts for any holiday or for someone special and loved.
The oils are up to you. If you prefer having only a rose oil spray just do the same excluding the bergamot. Rose blends well with ginger, vetiver, sandalwood or your own choice. You can create your own combination.
Safety Tips:
This recipe includes highly concentrated essentials oils some of which may have allergens, so before starting you should test for any allergic reaction. Apply one drop on the elbow dart area and wait 48 hours before using oils.
